Mark is a full-time professional genealogist, author and teacher who researches primarily in original records and manuscripts throughout the South.   A native of Robertson Co, TN, he has held many offices with genealogical groups and professional organizations.  He was president of the Association of Professional Genealogists, Vice President & Secretary of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, Vice President of the South KY Genealogical Society.  He is an instructor for the IGHR (Samford University’s renowned school of genealogy in Birmingham, AL) and the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy UGA, Director of the Regional In-depth Genealogical Studies Alliance (RIGS Alliance), a Fellow of the Utah Genealogical Association (FUGA) and was awarded the APG – Grahame T. Smallwood Jr. Award; and is a member of the board of the Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society to name just a few of his many accomplishments and activities.   He has also worked on the genealogical TV series “African American Lives 2”, “Faces of America” and NBC’s  “Who Do You Think You are?”
